There is a link to the judging form on our website. Note that a maximum of 2 marks is awarded for the Project Log (log of all raw data/results). Students should bring this document and have it available on their table for perusal by the judges. There is also a maximum of 2 marks awarded for the abstract. This is the summary students provide when they register and judges will be provided with a copy of this abstract by the chief judge.
All projects must follow the ethics policies established by Youth Science Canada (YSC) and all relevant forms must be provided.
Your project will be assigned a tag that will be taped to your project table when you arrive at the fair. This tag will not only identify your project but will include the Group (MUN tours/lunch) to which you have been assigned. Timing of lunch is scheduled with the timing of the tours. Students must remain with their group at all times.
After set-up, projects will have a safety check. If the safety officer specifies changes, these must be made before the project can be judged.
Students are not permitted to bring items to the fair that may be a safety concern to other students or the public. This includes sharp objects, plants, plant materials, soil, chemicals (including household chemicals or other liquids ie. water), biological cultures (eg. bacteria), and other organic materials. Photographs and videos are just as effective for illustrating such items. The committee reserves the right to confiscate any items that are a safety concern.
No electricity or power cords will be provided or permitted.
No student is permitted to leave the floor without permission while judging is taking place between 1:00 and 5:00 pm. Students cannot leave before judging is completed. Parents are not allowed on the floor at the time of judging
Any projects prepared in French may be judged in English.
When you are judged, please ensure that the judges sign your project tag. You will be judged at least twice but if you registered for special awards you may be judged several times. For the times between actual judging, it is suggested that students bring along some homework, reading material, I-pod, etc. Cell phones must be turned off or set on mute during the judging period. Only water is permitted in the gymnasium. Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle.
The Eastern Newfoundland Science Fairs Council, the fair venue and tour venue operators are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Lunch will depend on the location of your tour. For MUN tours, lunch can be purchased at the Student Centre; for College of North Atlantic tours, lunch will be provided; for Ocean Science Center tours, students must bring their own lunch
Parking is NOT available at Marine Institute on Friday, however on Saturday free parking is available.
